Information for participants
COSMOS is an acronym for Cognitive Science Metrics Online Survey
, which is a scientific study run by the Departments of Molecular and Cognitive Neuroscience
of the University of Basel
. The goal of this study is developing and standardizing psychological test in the form of applied games
that aim at measuring cognitive skills. We designed the tests to be more entertaining than classical psychological tests and for administering these tests online.
By participating in this study you are helping basic psychological research mainly concerned with attention, learning and memory.
Before you can start playing the games, you will have to agree to the informed consent sheet, register and you will be asked to answer a short questionnaire.
What will I get from taking part?
We will provide you with feedback on your test results. Please be aware that the test results may not be used to draw conclusions on general cognitive ability or cognitive disorders.
How old do I have to be to take part?
There is no age restriction of any kind.
What will happen with the data I provide?
The provided data will only be used for scientific purposes. All information and test results will be encrypted and stored on servers of the University of Basel and protected from third-party access. All analyses will be solely conducted by scientists of the University of Basel. The responsible Ethics Board is allowed to check the original data. Your name will never be mentioned in any report or publication following the analyses of the collected data.
What happens if I change my mind and do not want to take part anymore?
Your participation in this study is strictly voluntary and you are free to quit anytime. If you wish to withdraw from participating in this study, after you have already completed a task, please contact COSMOS-mcn AT unibas.ch
Will I be contacted in the future?
We might contact you via email to invite you to take part in an additional study. Of course, also participation in any additional study will be strictly voluntary. We will not pass your email address to any third-party.
